Searching for velocity-dependent dark matter annihilation signals from extragalactic halos

چکیده

We consider gamma-ray signals of dark matter annihilation in extragalactic halos the case where annihilates from a $p$-wave or $d$-wave state. In these scenarios, are enhanced relative to other targets, such as Galactic Center dwarf spheroidal galaxies, because typical speed is larger halos. perform mock data analysis gamma rays produced by detected Sloan Digital Sky Survey. include model for uncorrelated galactic and ray backgrounds, well simple backgrounds due astrophysical processes survey. find that, models which still allowed searches, searches with current Fermi exposure can produce evidence annihilation, though it difficult distinguish scenarios. With factor $10\times$ exposure, though, discrimination velocity-dependence possible.

Extragalactic gamma-ray background radiation from dark matter annihilation

If dark matter is composed of neutralinos, one of the most exciting prospects for its detection lies in observations of the gamma-ray radiation created in pair annihilations between neutralinos, a process that may contribute significantly to the extragalactic gamma-ray background (EGB) radiation. We here use the high-resolution MillenniumII simulation of cosmic structure formation to produce th...

Velocity Dispersion Profile in Dark Matter Halos

Numerous numerical studies indicate that dark matter halos show an almost universal radial density profile. The origin of the profile is still under debate. We investigate this topic and pay particular attention to the velocity dispersion profile. To this end we have performed high-resolution simulations with two independent codes, ART and Gadget. The radial velocity dispersion can be approxima...

Searching for Signals of Dark Matter Decay

Dark matter is believed to comprise approximately eighty-three percent of the matter in the universe, yet little is known about how it fits into our picture of the elementary particles that make up the world around us. There are now many great efforts underway to try and detect dark matter and probe the nature of its relation to the Standard Model of particle physics. In this work we investigat...

Can dark matter annihilation dominate the extragalactic gamma-ray background?

Annihilating dark matter (DM) has been discussed as a possible source of gamma rays from the galactic center and as a contribution to the extragalactic gamma-ray background. Assuming universality of the density profile of DM halos, we show that it is quite unlikely that DM annihilation is a main constituent of extragalactic gamma-ray background, without exceeding the observed gamma-ray flux fro...

Searching dark-matter halos in the GaBoDS survey

Context. We apply the linear filter for the weak-lensing signal of dark-matter halos developed in Maturi et al. (2005) to the cosmic-shear data extracted from the Garching-Bonn-Deep-Survey (GaBoDS). Aims. We wish to search for dark-matter halos through weak-lensing signatures which are significantly above the random and systematic noise level caused by intervening large-scale structures. Method...
